What it usually looks like
Sliding door faults nearly always announce themselves the same few ways.
Will not open at all
The handle moves but nothing happens, or the door stays locked shut. Usually a snapped cable or a seized lock mechanism.
Catches or sticks halfway
The door travels part way then binds. Nearly always worn rollers or dirt and wear in the centre runner.
Dropped on the runner
The door sits low, scrapes, or you have to lift it to close it. The lower roller bracket has worn or the hinge has gone.
Grinding or rumbling
A rough, gritty noise as it slides. Bearings in the rollers have collapsed. Cheap to fix now, dearer once it damages the runner.
Will not lock or central locking fails
Door closes but will not secure, or the central locking ignores it. Typically the actuator or the latch.
Opens while driving
Rare but serious. Stop using the door and get it looked at straight away, it is a latch fault.

We look before we quote
The door comes off or the trim comes out so we can see the runner, rollers, cable and latch properly. Guessing at a sliding door is how people end up paying twice.
Rollers, cables and runners
The usual repair is a set of rollers and a cable, sometimes a runner. We straighten and adjust the door so it sits square rather than just replacing parts around a bad alignment.
Locks and actuators
Latches, lock mechanisms and central locking actuators, fitted and tested with the rest of the locking so you are not chasing it again next month.

How much does a sliding door repair cost?
It depends entirely on what has failed. A roller and cable job is a world away from a runner and latch replacement. Message us what the door is doing and we will give you a realistic idea before you bring it in.
Can I still drive it with a broken sliding door?
If the door is shut and locked, usually yes. If it will not latch properly or it has opened on its own, stop using it and call us. That is a safety fault, not an inconvenience.
Do you use new or used parts?
Whichever makes sense. We break Transporters ourselves, so good used rollers, runners, doors and actuators are often on the shelf at a fraction of new. Where a part is wear-critical we will say so and fit new.
